Anyone else been getting the Temperature warning on their iPad while scoring games.

I had a very difficult weekend scoring a fastpitch tourney in 85+ degree weather. I had to come up with a cooling solution between innings. I'm thinking of a big ziploc bag to put the iPad in, then dunking it in my ice chest... but perhaps that's not the best idea.

Were you scoring with or without an "iPad Case". We have seen mixed information on this. In one case we have heard the case can cause overheating because there is not good ventilation when the case is on, and in another, we heard the user had better results when the case was on --- possibly acting as a heat sync.

Apple actually advises not using an iPad in direct sunlight, so if you can find any shade, that should help. Would also recommend holding it as opposed to putting it on your lap while scoring to make sure you are getting good airflow on hot days.

Or, just use it in Seattle, where this spring we have had NO warmth.

Seriously, I just bought one of those camp chairs with the attached canopies, in part to create shade to allow me to both see better and avoid using the iPad in direct sunlight. About $40 new at Target.....

I had the same High Temperature shut down despite the fact that the temperature was in the low 70's. I was in direct sunshine and I was using the Apple Case. I turned it off, waved it around a bit to give it more air, and moved into the shade.

Concur. I'm near Portland. We're still carrying coats and blankets (and umbrellas) to the games.... This is the coldest year I can recall this late in the season.

This happened to me as well, on a 78ish degree day, lots of sun. The iPad was not in a case, nor was it on my lap.

I actually got it working pretty quickly by using one of the cold packs we keep in case a kid is injured.

If you know you're going to be somewhere with lots of sun, it's probably a good idea to keep a dry ice pack with you.

We scored today in Maryland in 90+ degree heat and ungodly humidity and, though I expected it, we didn't get a warning. I did remove the skin so the metal back could be exposed to what scant breeze we had. It felt hot but worked fine.

I concur with the ice pack idea. I would have done that if necessary, with the skin back on to protect it from moisture.

Happened to me a couple of times in Cali. Found a great solution. Take the cold packs you put in your kids lunches and just have the iPad sit on it. Make sure you put the ice pack in a baggie. This did the trick in 90 degree weather this weekend.

This has happened to me twice. Once out of the case and once in the case. Usually the second game. Direct sunlight makes it worse. I used cool gatorades to cool the back. I also used a cool wet towel. I'm keeping ice paks around.
