Leagues confuse me! (responded)

Post by WarrenBof » Sun Mar 18, 2018 10:10 am

I cannot seem to be able to figure out leagues in iScore.

The major problem seems to be I can't figure out when to assign something to a league.

For example, I follow college baseball. I have set up two leagues, 2018 and SEC-2018. I have assigned every team to 2018 (so I can separate this year from next year) and teams that are in the SEC to SEC-2018 (so i can keep the year separate and look at stats for conference games). I've also assigned each game to one or both of the leagues as appropriate.

When, if ever, do I assign players to leagues (there are about 1,300 players in my data base)? Should they be included in a league, or should the league field be blank - or set to DEFAULT. Do the players inherit the league for their team? Do they inherit it from the game?

I understand the All league, but what is the DEFAULT league?

What do I do next year for the players that are returning to get only their 2019 stats and not 2018 and 2019?

And if I need to make massive changes, is there a way to do it easily - i.e. making them by groups or globally without making any required changes to the individual players?

I've looked at the manual and at video #4. Is there somewhere else that I can go to so that you will not need to rewrite something that's already out there to answer my question?

Thanks for the help.

League Manager is a powerful way to "group Stats" in any grouping you define for Players,Teams and/or Games.
(There is a detailed forum thread on League user practices here . viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1531)

Examples: American vs National League players. Or east vs west conference teams . Or pre season , regular season, vs post season games. Or 2016, 2017, 2018 seasons . Options are endless ..

In your example. You could start with creating 3 leagues each year .. *2018 ncaa,* 2018 SEC *2018 non conf. You would assign all your 2018 teams and games to "2018 ncaa" league". ( ideally players too but less critical, FYI - in IOS devices, when you assign a team to a league, it will prompt you to auto assign its current roster to the league to save you individual assignment time)

You would assign your 2018 sec conference players/teams/games to "2018 SEC" league .
you would assign all your 2018 non conference teams/players/games to "2018 non conf" league.
(Again players if you want to view individual player stats, outside of team stats and team roster)

After making the correct assignments, When you turn on only "2018 SEC". You will then see only 2018 SEC conference games/teams/players under Player/Team/Game Manager and hence only conference team/player/game stats..

Next year
...create * 2019 ncaa league, * 2019 SEC league, * 2019 non conf league.
Then assign those 2019 players/teams/ games accordingly

Make sure only 2018 games in 2018 leagues and only 2019 games in 2019 leagues.
So when you choose a league, (and only that league) only stats from those games appear in game and team manager

FYI - When you create a new player, team or game - it inherits any leagues that are "on" at that time

When you have a league "on" you only see players, teams, and games assigned into that league .

the "ALL" league is a special league that "shows all data on your device " (it over rides all other leagues). you can not delete ALL League.

The default league is another league provided with the app but you can remame or deleate it if you want

You can create as many leagues as you want.and group as many things as you want.

Here is a forum FAQ Thread w users discusing how they use leagues

Thanks. So, I guess that if I leave the league designation for players blank (or at "Default") they'll inherit the league designation from their team and/or from the games they play in. At least it seems to be working that way for me.

And that's what I want. Thanks again.

Players/teams/ games 'inherit' any enabled leagues "that are 'on" at time player/team/game is created

Example If you only have " League Abc" enabled . And you create a new player, they will inherit "leqgue abc"..
