Scoring menu makes no sense

Ok, so maybe it's just me, but the scoring menus that appear are overly complicated. Let me give you an example:
A) Player #1 gets a base hit, the following menu options occur
1) In Play --> Safe --> Hit Single
2) Touch screen where ball was hit
3) What happened to the batter, Player #1? (***I don't understand, shouldn't it know by menu option #1 that he got on first? What are you supposed to hit here? "Advanced by batter"? "Held up"? He technically advanced himself to 1st. But maybe he "held up" at first instead of trying for a double. This just seems overly complicated. Please explain.)
B) With Player #1 on 1st, Player #2 reaches on an error made by 3rd baseman. The following menu options occur
1) In Play --> Error
2) Select spot on field where ball was hit
3) Select field position that made error (***seems redundant with #2, since you've already selected the field spot)
4) What happened to the runner on 1st, Player #1? (***Again, confusing menu system. Are you supposed to select "Advanced by batter" - which is true, he advanced when the batter put the ball in play. Or, "Error" (which is what he advanced on).
5) What happened to the batter, Player #2? *** Why is it asking this AGAIN? I already answered in menu option #1 that he reached on an error. The base he reaches should be consolidated into menu option #1.
...My point here is, there are far too many menus needed to score a game. Seems like it would be simpler to do this on paper, which defeats the whole purpose of having an app.
