Runner doubled off after batter lines out (Answered)

Post by jwestland » Sun Apr 23, 2017 9:37 am

I'm probably missing something which should be obvious, but I can't figure out if I've got the proper series of button presses for this situation.

Runner on first, one out. Batter hits line drive to third, which is caught by 3rd baseman for out number 2. Runner thought the ball was going through and took off for second. Third baseman throws to first to double off the runner (technically, an out by appeal), for the third out.

I've got the "out>line drive>3b" for the first out on the play. What happened to the runner on 1st? out. Then what? I used "left the base early." Is that the intended meaning of this in the app, or am I missing something more obvious.

Left base early is generally used in no lead off leagues (eg, youth baseball and softball)

But You can use that if you want /
If makes sense to you.

i would probably use double play ...
Out> line drive> 5-3 >
what happen to r1? Out > double play

This gives a put out and assist to third basemen and a put out to first basemen . It correctly does not give batter a GDP . It will show up in score card as a DP 5-3 on batter a FO# on R1..(force out and number in order of batter who doubled him up).

IScore does not Differentiate force out vs appeal

Agree with Ohio Tex suggestions. Also you have to enter "double play" to have the fielders involved credited for participating in a double play. The trick is you have to assign what fielders participated right away because when you hit "double play" it won't ask you after that.

Ah, that's what had me confused - the lack of asking me how the DP occurred after I selected. I'll just need to learn to enter it in at the same time as the line drive out.

Thanks for the tips, all.
