New Device - Games Scored - How to Transfer Data (answered)

Post by Pontiac Tomahawks » Fri Mar 24, 2017 4:57 am

My wife went to my daughter's first HS game and decided to keep score on her iPhone (I'm the usual scorekeeper in the family on an iPad). She downloaded the app and has scored 2 games. She is planning on scoring the remainder of the season this way.

After these first 2 games, I went into Options and created the admin site and registered the device using my current email. Then I got to thinking...."how do I add this new device, and merge the new data (with the data I keep on the iPad) without losing these 2 games?"

I tried transferring the games to my iPad via Bluetooth - but it wouldn't go. Bluetooth was on for both devices. I was able to discover the iPad from the iPhone. I accepted the request to receive the data.....but then it would clock and the process would start all over again. Tried a dozen times - still no luck. So I feel like I need to somehow do this via the web database.

Whats the best way to do this?

Thanks

very common and easy to manage....

Here is a FAQ on Data Sharing .. It should provide you both use instructions and context.

A few extra comments/tips
  • I prefer data sharing from the web over bluetooth. (bluetooth has some compatibility issues sometimes,) Option > Data Share> get from Web. just seems to work better for me
  • the most likely reason your bluetooth share did not work is different versions of software on iphone and ipad.
to data share over the web,
  • you need the source (aka her iPhone) Device ID and password
    • . (get at iPhone> iscore> options > admin web site )
  • also on her iphone, Make sure you "Option > Export" to update the web server with most recent scored games
* registering both your ipad and her iPhone to same Email account is a great idea, you can then access both accounts at my.iscorecentral.com by using the same email and password. but to transfer games between devices, Data Sharing is still the way to go

post back if need more detail or have more questions,
