Multiple Scorekepeers (answered)

Post by BB Iceman » Sat Feb 10, 2018 10:35 am

Question about scoring games for the same team set up in iScore by different scorers on different devices. I want to make sure I got this right. All scoring will be done with iScore app. I set up the teams (3) and leagues and games on my iPad. If person other than I wants to score a game for one of the teams using his iPad, not mine, is this all he has to do? (1) open iScore on his iPad. (2) go to Game Manager and use the “Discover Game” link to open the game he is going to score. And (3) click on “Score Game” in the opened game and score the game. After scoring the game, he simply exports the Scored Game to the iScore servers and the game and all players’ stats will be uploaded to the database for that team. If there is an error in how I describe this scenario, please tell me what it is and what I need to do to correct it to accomplish the goal, I.e. having a different scorer from the one who set up the teams, games and leagues score a game of one of the teams on his own iPad and not on the iPad of the person who created the teams, games and leagues.

Thanks for your response in advance.

@ BBiceman You posted this question under a thread related to a discusion on a 'future capability'' for si play mobile app regarding enhance sync with iscore baseball scoring app .... but you never mentioned SiPlay Mobile App or SiPlay Leagues.

To answer your question and help you with process for multiple scorekeepers, i first need to understand if you are using "SiPlay Mobile" app (white app icon) in addition to iscore baseball (green app icon).. or are you just using iscore baseball/softball scorekeeper (green app icon)?

Iscore is not designed as a concurrent multi device scorekeeping app. You can score your team with different devices and have a 'master device' store combined stats. But the process will be different if using SiPlay or not

.. Are you creating your Team in SiPlay App or in score team manager or a team Web site..?

< since this is about iscore scorekeeping app and not SiPlay sync, I split your question into its own thread>
(originally posted at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12510)

The short answer to your question is yes - iscore baseball has the capability for different people (main scorekeeper, alternate scorekeeper, assistant coach, etc) to score a team using different devices (ipad, iPhone, android phone/tablet). however, it takes some administrative planning and management to keep the data straight, accurate and complete if you want the stats of scored games to be collected and consolidated on a "master" device to maintain cumulative player and team stats.

(Please Note different people can score separate games but Iscore is not designed to have multiple people score the SAME game simultaneously and ' merge' the game stats.

There are other threads and FAQs in the forum that detail how to use iScore to do this a) when multiple scorekeepers are used and b) when multiple devices are used . Start w reading the below FAQ and reply back w more questions and your situation.. glad to help

Basically the Secondary device will 1) Data Share the team (or game) from the Master Device, and 2) score the game, then post game 3) when done Scoring Option Export, and then 4) the Master Device will need to Retrieve the scored game to the master device. (iscore was designed before cloud computing and availability of connectivity at ball parks, and so uses Devices not the cloud as the master data store, )
