Not sure if you intended it to be there but I would like to see it added. Actually would prefer to see it in a sort of pop-up dialog when I hover over the column heading.
Right now it appears that you have sorting turned on when clicking on the heading. For me this only makes sense for the date and maybe opponent. For the rest of the column headings I would rather see the definition of the abbreviation.

For the columns, yes, clicking a column heading does sort. Many users find this useful (which game did the player have the most home runs in, the most RBIs, the most Strikes thrown for a pitcher, etc).
We will definitely be adding a legend - it will be the same legend we include in the emails, but we will make it accessible from the site.
