obp computations
i have a few games now where a batter has gotten on base and it is not reflected in the obp stats. i would like to know specifically why getting on base due to an error does not count and why getting on base due to a dropped third strike does not count.
Re: obp computations
there may be a setting to add those but normally obp doesnt count errors, K's (dropped) or FC, they count bb's...its a stat used to track other way of a batter earning there way on base... BB is good example, FC where the lead runner is retires isn't. error doesn't really help int he stats.. other porgrams I've seen will allow you to set the two of three ways it'll add to the obp tracking and erro's and FC are two of them..
Re: obp computations
Here is link describing how OBP is calculated (at least per MLB rules, which are generally considered standard):

Re: obp computations
OBP
On-base percentage
(H + BB + HBP) divided by (AB + BB + HBP + SF)
here is what MLB uses to calculate obp, if Iscore is different I'd like to know...

Re: obp computations
For Softball the calculation is:
(BB+HBP+H) / (BB+HBP+SAC+AB) - SAC = All sacrifices (according to NCAA Rule 14)
For Baseball the calculation is:
(BB+HBP+H) / (BB+HBP+SF+AB) - SF = SAC fly only.
OBP does not consider uncaught 3rd strike, catcher interference, FC, error, or obstruction - these are "unearned" bases and do not count for OBP.

Re: obp computations
Where are the formulas for each of the baseball statistics documented? Thanks.
