third out--not a force--before the run scores

third out--not a force--before the run scores

Post by CaN » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:45 am

So, this happened during 8/22 White Sox-O's game: runners on 1B and 2B. Batter hits a double, but play goes to 3B. Runner who previously was on 1B tagged out at 3B BEFORE runner previously on 2B crosses homeplate (yes, Thome is that slow). iScore seems to want me to call the runner out at home, otherwise it will register a run. If I award a double and say fielder's choice out at 3B, still need to be safe at home or there's four outs!

Forgive me if this is answered elsewhere.

Also, unrelated: still find it hard to make late-game lineup and defensive substitutions other than pitcher. Seems like something always goes wrong there. I'd love to see a tutorial on such typical late switches like a defensive sub in outfield taking over a lineup position (though not likely to ever bat).

Otherwise, love the app.

Hi Cary -

We have had this questions a few times in the forum (here is one example http://iscore.freeforums.org/post1770.html#p1770).

With version 1.65, you have to make sure that you mark the runner on 3rd as held up at 3rd, not at Home (which is the default in this scenario).

In version 2.0 (whenever Apple approves it), there is an additional "runner did not score" option for this scenario.

Version 2.0 also helps with your substitution issues. We have training videos at http://iscore.fasterthanmonkeys.com/training.jsp that show how to do the substitutions (#3 and #4 cover version 2.0, #2 covers subsitutions for versions prior to 2.0).

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Ah ha. I didn't think to say "held up at 3B" since the runner, in fact, did not hold up. I guess the outcome is the same, however.

Thanks again for the quick and thoughtful reply. You guys are the best!
