stolen base makes iscore stop

Post by 88van » Tue Apr 26, 2011 2:56 pm

whenever i have a player who steals a base i get the message "the application iscore has stopped unexpectedly. please try again" and i have to force close and restart. this only happens when i select stolen base from the menu before before selecting the base that was stolen. i know i should get smart enough to choose the base the runner advanced to then choose stolen base, but hey i forget to do it that way. any way to keep it from 'force close' when i do this?

Welcome to the board.

I am having a hard time replicating the taps you take to get to the crash, could you be more specific? From which menu are you selecting stolen base that prompts the crash?

Typical scoring of a stolen base:

tap base runner
tap base advance to
tap stolen base.

htc inspire. v3.17.171
tap baserunner
tap stolen base
crash.

the only way to get it not to crash is
tap baserunner
tap second base
tap stolen base

i know i should be able to do it in this order all the time, but game situations and tapping buttons quickly makes mistakes.

it's odd to me that it crashes if you do it the other way,

Thanks for update.... FTM will need to respond

( if some one else with android and hopefully htc inspire can duplicate. that would be helpful confirmation)

I tested on ipad, the app does not crash. When you Tap runner, tap stolen base, iscore sends you back to the scoring screen. And it gives the runner a stolen base credit....(which is unfortunately, wrong).

In addition to fixing the crash bug, wonder if FTM can add some protective code to not give a stolen base when the start base and end base do not change, ie user makes the wrong tap..... (FYI scorecard does not denote the false steal, which is good)

Would be better if Stolen Base wasn't even an option if you don't change the base.

I.e. runner on first, tap runner, default is first base, would be nice if stolen base button was not an active/selectable button. Hit second base, and now it is. Not sure if this type of dynamic menu system is possible, but would be nice. There are many cases where illogical selections are available. The elimination of these illogical selection options would be a major improvement.

Another example would be:
In Play, Hit Single, what happened to runner? Options include Passed Ball, Wild Pitch, Pickoff Attempt, etc.

Actually, that is a bug we have fixed on Android and will post an update soon (the crashing), and it is occurring for that reason --- we have made it stop allowing selecting frist as the stolen base. We will get the updated version posted very soon.

I also have the HTC Inspire and scored a game for the first time yesterday. I had the same problem. I would tap the runner, then stolen base and it would force a close of the program. I would then get back into the program, tap runner, the base and then stolen base and it would function correctly. This happened to me a couple of times as I would just instinctively tap stolen base before I would tap the base.

+1 on that same fix for iOS devices, even though they don't crash.

GUI suggestion on the "dynamic menu" idea:
Maybe illogical options greyed out until second base is selected? That way the buttons are still in the same menu position, just not mistakenly press-able until you've actually advanced the runner.

Although, I'd prefer the short cut of iScore automatically advancing the runner when I choose stolen base, rather than having to remember to, or have to be prompted to manually advance the runner. I think most would agree that stolen base implies advancement.

Thanks.
