Separate stats for different season
Separate stats for different season
I just started using iScore this summer for little league (and love it)! Fall ball is starting soon and I want to start new cumulative stats for the boys just for fall without losing the summer stats. I will designate a new league I.e. Fall 2010. My question is if I use the same players in the new league, will stats start fresh? Or will it just add to the summer stats? Can I control that by designating active vs. Inactive leagues? Can I then go back and make them all active to see cumulative over several seasons? Thx for your help. Wil

Leagues are what you will learn to use to filter stats. see the faq for more info

Basically, the stats you see for a player are filtered by the leagues enabled on your handheld device (ipad, itouch, iphone).
If you enable all leagues, you see the stats for all players, teams, and games played in all leagues
if you enable just Fall 2010, you only see stats for players, teams, games assigned to fall 2010.
if you enable only Summer 2010, you only see stats for players, teams, games assigned to Summer 2010.
if you enable both Summer 2010 and Fall 2010, you see stats for players, teams, games assigned to Summer 2010 and Fall 2010
This post was under team web sites, so want to be sure and call out, you can filter stats on the web site by drop down box (in this example. it would have . All, Fall2010, Summer 2010 choices) , provided you assigned your team to the Leagues (Fall 2010, Summer 2010) in addition to assigning the games to leagues. Do this in Team Manager before you export if you have not already. Also on the web site you can control if a user can select the leagues or just get a default league (aka only Fall for now). .
hope this helps, reply back if need more info. Leagues are great and powerful for season management.

Re: Separate stats for different season
For some reason, even though I created a new season league prior to creating my team website, only the previous season league displays. I've checked the settings multiple times, and I've got the default league set to the current season, but when I sign in, only the previous season roster and stats displays.
Further, even though the previous season stats were there, now the actual stats are blank, as though no games have been played. There was a full season of stats on there before, but now they are all zeros.
We've played one game so far this season. I've already emailed it to myself and exported successfully, yet nothing is coming through on the website.
Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong? This has been quite frustrating.
Thanks!

On held held
In team manager did you assign the "new league" to your website team? Sounds like you created a new league and scored a game with the team and assigned the game to the "new league" but forgot to go back and add the new league to your team in team manager
After that, export then
on web site
In settings you will be able to set the new league as default
Let me know if that works...

Re: Separate stats for different season
Thanks for the tip - I'm sure that is the problem. However, when I try to assign the website to the team, it only gives me the option to check availability, which I already know is unavailable. Is there no way to assign an existing website to the team?

Re: Separate stats for different season
The team websites are intended to be one per team. If you have a new team, it would require a new website. If it is the same team, just a new season, then it should already be assigned from the previous season and doing an export would update the existing website. You can have multiple seasons for a single team by creating Leagues and just making sure you assign the new Leagues to the team. That is how the website knows which leagues to show in the dropdown. Assigning leagues to games is how stats are grouped, assigning leagues to teams is how the website knows which to include in the dropdown.
If you created a new team for your new season instead of using the same team, you can use the "Merge Team" functionality to combine them back into one from the Team Manager. Just be sure the one the website is tied to is selected in the "left list" when merging the teams.

It's all the same team, just a new season. I'll try the merge team function.
Thanks for the help.

although you did not mention it, it sounds like you created a second team for the new season and you now have two versions of your team listed in team manager. Although they are the same team to you, same players etc, they are not the same team to the device. if this is the case, two teams, that would be the cause of the problem and easy to fix, merge is the solve ..
FYI the device creates a unique underlying team ID# for each team, player, game listed in their respective managers. if listed twice the device assumes they are different, if in fact they are the same, the merge feature lets you fix this.
remember, once you have merged the teams together make sure the new team has the both old and new leagues assigned to it, then when you export and all should be good on the web site. also on the team web site, you can choose what is the default league to show for stats (ie new) and if it can be user selected or not...
