Importing stats

Post by Afjb » Tue Oct 23, 2018 8:07 am

Hi, this can actually go towards all of your products, but when importing team specific stats, when I import back to iScore on the iPad, I always have to go to league manager, select leagues to "all", find the game with the imported stats and change the league to the specific league the team in question is assigned to. It can be very cumbersome especially when you have scored a lot of games and there is no real order to where the imported game will be in the list of games. I would love to have it where, after I import the stats for a given team, it automatically assigns those stats to the same league as the team itself. This way, once i import back to the ipad, i don't have to go through the steps outlined above.

Thanks!

Tony, i know you use a number of the iScore apps, when you OPTION > DATA SHARE to retrieve a team roster or game data, the program should assign the currently enabled leagues to the retrieved game/ team. So prior to doing the OPTION > DATA SHARE > GET FROM ... create and enable only the leagues you want the retrieved data to be associated with. I think this should satisfy your near term needs - save you the extra hunt and search headache.

as you know, there are multiple ways to bring data into iscore apps, league inheritance should work for TEAM MANAGER > DISCOVER, GAME MANAGER > DISCOVER, and OPTION >DATA SHARE > GET FROM ... If you are experiencing different behavior, or importing in a different way, provide the specific steps

when importing team specific stats, when I import back to iScore on the iPad,

Thanks, OhioTex. I am talking about data that I have in a csv file that I am importing to a team I have created in the admin. So essentially it's data (could be several games worth) from a team I have scored using other methods and have in an Excel spreadsheet. I move the data over the the csv format that iScore has and then import into the admin web site.

Sorry that I didn't explain it better the first time.

Ah, yes.. the csv file import does not include ‘league’ assignment for these “special” games. You have to assign the ‘special game’ to leagues after “ option > import”.
( you can create new leagues on admin site but can not assign games to league on admin site)

Correct, thanks. And that's what I am hoping iScore can change - the ability for us to assign the league with the file since we are already linking it with a team associated with that very same league. Seems like it could be done rather easily.

I would not hold my breath.. in scheme of requests I have seen posted on forum to improve functionality or streamline keystrokes , csv import improvements probably not high on priority list., also the pace of scorekeeping app updates has slowed down.

I want to be clear, I am glad iscore has an ability to import cvs files (despite its cumbersome nature). I use it. The lack of a column to assign a league has been mentioned before, as with other wholescale changes to simplify and expand csv file import functionality. But alas, for most users, csv import is not a frequent use case or core function... more a fringe functionality for power users.

For now, and I suspect the foreseeable future, we just have to appreciate we can csv import and regret/tolerate the extra steps

For example for football specifically, I would prioritize implementing the League Manager selection functionality you have in baseball app on iOS devices (Ie the game, player, team tabs ) ahead of adding league to csv file import, it would help reduce far more keystrokes overall ..
