I think I know the answer but want to be sure. Two outs runner on first. On contact runner goes..by the time ball bounces over fence runner rounded second.
Blue allowed run to score and batter to stay on second...
I thought runner should not advance pass third...
What is the ruling?
ruling on ground rule double (grd)
Re: ruling on ground rule double (grd)
As far as scoreing goes, simply follow umpire's decision ., batter gets a ground rule double and RBI...
As far as correct umpire ruling, perhaps some one has case reference .
But I thought it would be a two base award from time of pitch not time out of play. Mlb rules are clear on batter awarded second base and runners advance two.

Re: ruling on ground rule double (grd)
Thanks...That's was my thinking. Scored as called, but I was wanting to be sure of the book rule.
Re: ruling on ground rule double (grd)
You should have had runners at 3rd and 2nd. Its two bases from the time of the pitch not the time the ball leaves the field of play. This one is pretty clear in the rule book.
