NFHS Softball Allows Elctronic Devices in Dug out

If you have any rules related questions, please ask in this forum. In general, enforcement of rules is up to the Umpire of the game and iScore does not specifically enforce them, but we want to make sure we score within them. Ask here, and experts can chime in.

NFHS Softball Allows Elctronic Devices in Dug out

Post by OhioTex » Wed Aug 07, 2013 3:12 pm

Forum Members.

periodically the discusion comes up about allowing electronic devices in the dug out. HFHS adopted some new language in July that is more electronic friendy for softball. Thought i would share (Team Mom probably already knew it though)
With the addition of Rule 1‐8‐6, team personnel are permitted to use electronic devices to transmit or record information pertaining to their players or team’s performances. This is to be done only in the team’s bench or dugout areas, and the information obtained may be used for coaching purposes during the game.
“The committee felt that with the advancement of technology, it was time to allow electronic devices to be used,” said Theresia Wynns, NFHS director of sports and officials education and staff liaison for softball. “It focused on what was good for softball and that the devices could be a useful tool to aid in coaching.” source July 10 http://www.ohsaa.org/news/sports/2014So ... hanges.pdf

I didn't! I've never run into a problem at tournaments. Thought it might be more a HS issue since they tend to be rule sticklers and this will be out first year playing HS ball. I usually am not in the dugout anyway...

Thanks for the update!
