hello all.....excellent software/app used for all of last season...love it.

Now a question which I cannot seem to find the answer too,I will try to be brief in the scenario.

runners on 2 and 3
passed ball
runner on 3 heads home
catcher tosses to pitcher
( in little league the runner must slide and avoid ...the pitcher was not in the way,or in position to tag the runner but the kid did not slide) not a big deal
had he slid to home this scenario would not of happened,and in this case even in little league I would not of argued him out at all ....he beat the throw easily without question

but the throw from the catcher actually hit the runner as he crossed the plate ,the ball deflected and then rolled towards the backstop and then on towards first base,scoring the runner who is now at 3
the pitcher for sure, would of caught the underhand toss...the runner would not of advanced from 3

the run scores.....but should the play of been called dead after hitting the scoring runner?

what should the ruling of been? should the second run score?

First runner scores on passed ball. Second runner scores on error on catcher (who tossed the ball into the first runner.) Ball would not be called dead unless it rolled off the field somehow (like into the dugout.) Unless Little League has specific rules which differ from the regular scoring rules, this is how I believe you would score it.

this is fall ball kind of impromptu,they are little league teams,but it is not sanctioned.....I guess the real question is ,had it of been actual little league play,the first runner on the passed ball by rights should of slid ( and must slide according to little league ) into home,by not sliding he would of been called out no question....so does this make the ball dead even though it did not leave the field of play....or is he just out and the play continues as it was called

There was no play at the plate with the pitcher not being in position. Therefore no need to slide.

Unless something has changed recently, the must slide rule is a common myth that comes up from time to time. From some online sources, Little League rule 7.08 states:

7.08 Any runner is out when (a)(3) the runner does not slide or attempt to get around a fielder who has the ball and is waiting to make the tag;

Several things to note with regards to the play from the original question.

The fielder has to have the ball and be waiting to make the tag.

The runner has to EITHER slide OR attempt to go around a fielder. The runner is NOT required to slide.

Finally, the runner is out. Nothing is mentioned about the ball being dead so play would continue even if the runner was called out.

Also note that there is nothing mentioned about contact being made. If the runner tries to go around a fielder who does have the ball and attempts to tag, the runner is still not necessarily out if the tag is not made.
