State High School Pitch Count Limits (FYI discussion)

If you have any rules related questions, please ask in this forum. In general, enforcement of rules is up to the Umpire of the game and iScore does not specifically enforce them, but we want to make sure we score within them. Ask here, and experts can chime in.

State High School Pitch Count Limits (FYI discussion)

Post by OhioTex » Wed Dec 21, 2016 8:36 pm

To forum members with high school baseball players...

As many of you know, the NFHS is requiring state associations to establish amd implement pitch count rules for 2017 season.

Many states have published their standards but not yet in ohio. (expect will in january) . I was hoping to get help to create A list of each States base pitch/rest chart.

EXAMPLE

STATE XYZ
* 0-30 pitches. -> 0 days of rest
* 31-45 pitches. -> 1 days of rest
* 46-60 pitches -> 2 days of rest
* 61-80 pitches -> 3 days of rest
* 81-105 -pitches > 4 days of rest
Special additions...if any..
* example1: If pitch two consecutive days, regardless of number, must have a mandatory day of rest
*example2:: freshman and sophmore max 80.

Below is a link to a google doc i started with 11 states i have found so far. Please feel free to add or comment/ corrext the working list

Update: document converted from google doc to google sheets in a tabulated format.

Thanks
Charles

Once the season kicks off, I would be interested in hearing everyone's practical issues that come up from this. How are different areas actually keeping track of pitch counts? Actual enforcement? Varsity versus sub-varsity issues? As we all know, the rules are one thing, but how they are actually carried out can be completely different.

( FYI the main content 'pitch count tiers' in the update align with what was previously collected for Oklahoma)
