iPhone & iPad
iPhone & iPad
I have previously purchased the iPhone version of iScore. I have recently got an iPad. Can I use the iPhone version on the iPad? Is there an advantage to using the iPad version on the iPad (besides the obvious resolution)? In other words, are the exact same except for the resolution? And, if I end up using both my iPhone and iPad to score games, does it work pretty well to share data between them? Thanks in advance!!

Re: iPhone & iPad
Yes, you can use the iPhone version on your iPad. The iPhone version and iPad version both have the same core functionality. The iPad is able to give more information while scoring because of the size of the screen, but the same information is available on the iPhone version --- you just have to drill down through screens to get to it sometimes.
Yes, you can share data between the devices just fine (http://iscorecentral.com/baseball/dsfaq.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Here is a link to more information about the iPhone vs iPad versions:

That's it, I am sold! Buying an Ipad before High School season. Thanks FTM!!! Can't wait to get one!
Re: iPhone & iPad
Do yourself a favor and buy the separate iPad version when you get your iPad. It's just so much easier to score a game.
Re: iPhone & iPad
If you do get the ipad, and are going to be scoring a number of games or your whole high school season, I too highly recommend getting the iPad version. It just takes better advantage of the screen size. Every user I can think of who has invested in the extra version has said, wow- worth it.
Data sharing between the two works very well.
If you have or plan to purchase a "team web site subscription", note that only one device posts (exports) to the team site. The team site is linked to the specific device Id used to purchase the site. Email Support@iscorecentral.com to switch the master device if you need to at no cost.
The next release of the iPad version has been reported to work in landscape mode too!

Re: iPhone & iPad
How do you know if you purchased the ipad version or the iphone version?
Re: iPhone & iPad
if you run iphone app on the iPad you use the "2X button" to make the app full screen.. then you know you are running an iphone app (this is true of many apps, not just iScore).
in the APP store, apple lists iPad and iPhone versions separately. if you own an iPad, you quickly learn to look for iPad specific (or universal versions) when you make a purchase.
once downloaded, the iPad version does not run on the iPhone, but both the iPhone and iPad version can run on the iPad. If you run an iphone app on the iPad it will start up using about half the iPad screen and have a 2X button on the bottom right of the app window, taping on it enlarges the app window to use the full screen, but you are running an app built for the smaller iPhone screen, just doubled in size. this is the case for iScore too.
If you run an iPad app on the iPad, it will start in full screen mode and not give you the 2X. that is how you can tell. also in iscore, when you get to a game scoring screen, you will have the baseball diamond on the scree, the full rosters of both teams, the play by play window and the pitch location / speed pane. Basically you get 4 iphone screens on the iPad screen all at once

Re: iPhone & iPad
I do not have personal experience with iPad Screen protectors. (have an apple original iPad1 case, but not a screen protector). A forum member has posted their recommendation here.

also do not expect a screen protector from apple . (cases, yes but not screen protector). When iPad1 came out Apple intentionally did not make nor offer screen protectors, in fact they went the opposite way to promote durability of their screen. Apple even pulled screen protectors from apple stores, apple claimed the iPad screens did not need them. (I have not researched that since iPad2 came some google research may show an update.
