How to score hit + error

Post by tjans » Wed Jul 02, 2014 4:14 am

I had a situation last night where there was a man on 2nd and the batter hit a single. The RF then bobbled the ball, advancing the player to 2B as well as the runner home. I think I got it scored correctly by doing this:

Action 1: Single, runner on 2B advanced by batter
Action 2: Tap the runner on 1B and hit safe at 2nd error, it asks what happened to runner on 3B, safe at home, same error

Is this the right procedure? I was looking for a "single + error" or "double + error" but couldn't find it, so I had to break it out into two actions as indecated above

What you did works.. But What may be throwing you off is a Game option Setting called " minimize questions" .. I suspect you had it equal to yes and as such are not prompted for what happen to batter..

I Recomend to have this setting equal to NO .
(Tools or gear icon bottom right of scoring screen)

then one standard entry stream.. Score what you see .... just follow the iScore prompts

In play > safe , single > tap hit location, and select type of hit, next>

What happen to runner on second?
Safe and third is highlighted .. Change to home and Error>

Tap the player who made the error ... RF. ... Done

What happen to batter? ... Safe, second , same error >
( this is not asked if you have minimized questions set to yes )

An alternative entry would be
Single, runner at second safe at home on E9, runner at first safe at third, same error.

This saves as one action. You lose the RBA to 3B, but that is not a statistic that is tracked anyway.

FYI Team mom.. as I read it, There was only a runner on 2nd and batter to start play .. And Ended with runner scoring and batter on 2nd . ( no one at 3rd).

I still think If Minimize questions setting is set to yes, Forced into a two step entry - because batter placed at first on a single and not prompted what happen to him.

As I always keep that setting equal to no I could be wrong.
Be curious ..Do you score with minimize settings yes or no?

Thanks, I'll try these solutions next time. As for the minimize questions, I use this for tabletop baseball and therefore having the extra questions slows down the game a tad. I don't need to track type of hit or hit location, just the outcome of the play, so I like the minimize questions. It's good to know that might be causing the "menu confusion" though.

I'll try Team Mom's idea and see how that flies...

Yes, I am doing minimize questions

I just tried this and I think I"m doing something wrong...

I have a runner at 2B in my test game.

In Play | Hit single
What happened to the runner on 2b? Safe at home - error
Touch the position of the player that caused the error - RF
Action completed

So now I have a runner on 1st who should be at 2B due to the error...it's still a two-step process, and actually doing it this way causes me to input two errors. One for the baserunner, and now one for the batter.

I turned off minimize questions and it did ask me what happened to the batter.

From the manual, it seems like it's only an extra tap that "minimize questions" saves, so I can handle clicking held up every time if needed, though if my posted solution in the OP works, it's a rare enough occurrence that I could just handle it that way when needed. Same with safe at 2B "on the throw" type of plays

it sounds like you did the test game just right..

scenario A - (minimize Qs yes) two entry process, scenario B (minimize Qs no) - one entry process.

The difference is... What happen to batter ? is asked in the B scenario (minimize Qs NO) and not asked in the A scenario (minimize Qs Yes). but yes if two entry events, the program considers it two separate errors. (multiple errors in same entry event are treated as one). You can edit the stat errors later or simply move runner from 1st to 2nd on Safe Held Up. And can make a note runner was advanced on the prior error (and score card would be not show e advance). these are the tradeoffs,

which ever works best for you. the developers actually added the removal of the what happened to batter question at request of some users. I do not score table top, but i know a number of users do.

for me, i score live youth games baseball and fast pitch and learned iscore, with it asking me every time.. what happened to batter and am comfortable with the extra question each game to get the more technically correct stats and scorecard. - also in youth ball a number of errors and advances past first happen, so that works best for me. but your choice
