Today we had a batter swing and miss for strike three, ball was in the dirt so he takes off to first base. Before the play is made by the catcher throwing to first base, the home plate umpire called the batter out for running outside the white lines down to first base.
If I score it as a dropped third strike, P gets credit for the strikeout but if I score it as Left Base Path, P is not getting credit for the strikeout. Just curious as to what the proper way to score this play would be...seems like the P should get credit for the strikeout to me.

Would suggest using Dropped Third, Out Fist, 2-3. You can add a note that the runner left the basepath.
