Calculating ERA
Select softball games are timed, not a standard number of innings. For this season, we average 3.85 innings per game (189 innings/49 games). Should we change the standard innings to 4 or use 7 which is going to be the standard when they get into high school? Makes a difference on the ERA calculation.

Re: Calculating ERA
ERA is based on Scheduled innings, not the actual number of innings played. You will usually want to set your scheduled innings to 7 for softball.

Re: Calculating ERA
But none our games are scheduled for 7 innings. We do 55 minute pool games which is usually 3 innings and 75 minute bracket games which is usually 4 innings. We have played 49 games since February and never played 7 innings. Next year we start playing high school and will play 7 innings then.
Re: Calculating ERA
The recomendation for "7" for girls fast pitch softball would be the norm. that is what high school and colleges would use. And high level travel ball if comparing across teams. Iscore allows You to choose what ever "denominator" you would like if you want something else.. Era6, era5, era4..that would your decision
