Dropped third strike run scores

Post by coach1 » Fri Apr 29, 2016 7:07 pm

Runner on third batter has two strikes swings for third strike but ball gets away from catcher and rolls to back stop catcher attempts unsuccessfully to make throw to first. Runner scores from third. Is the run scored as a stolen base or error on catcher for allowing ball to get away from him. If neither is correct how is it scored

Runner is safe at home by either Wild Pitch or Passed Ball. If the pitcher should have caught the ball, it would be Passed Ball. If the ball bounced or was so wild that the catcher would not have normally caught it, then it is a Wild Pitch.
