Just saw this...

Post by ixamnis » Sun Aug 30, 2015 12:21 pm

MLB game. Runners on first and third, one out. Batter hits a ground ball down the first base line. Runner at third is thrown out at home, first baseman to catcher. Left handed Batter thinks ground ball was hit foul and so is still standing in batter's box. Catcher turns and tags batter out for the double play.

Any way to score that and get it to show up right on the scorecard and pitch by pitch? I haven't found one yet.

The closest and easiest is to enter Out, Ground Out, 3-2, (runner on third) Out at Home, Double Play.

The statistics will all be correct with this entry. The only thing not quite right is the order of the outs on the scorecard. You can add a note to the play indicating the correct order if this is troubling.

I thought the better work around was to go against convention and enter "in play", then fielder's choice, then grounder to first, 3-2-2, then runner "tagged out" at home, again 3-2-2, then what happened to runner on first, "advanced by batter" to second, what happened to batter "double play". Then I'd add note that batter was unassisted tagged out at home by catcher. Looks a little better on scorecard. Also shows up OK on pitch by pitch. It would appear that gets the stats correct too.

Any chance of adding under "out", something like "not first out on play" and then have iscore ask later what happened to batter?

We have on our enhancement list to enhance the double play entry to allow manually ordering of the outs instead of relying on iScore to guess at the order.
