Scoring Question

Post by jdale » Sun Feb 08, 2015 6:37 pm

Runners on first and second. Batter singles to center field. Runner on second scores. Runner on first advances to second on the base hit and advances to third on the throw to home. Throw is off line and gets by the catcher for an error. Second runner scores. batter advances to second on the throw. How do you score this situation so that all events transpire during this batters at bat and the pitch-by-pitch for this batter reflects this scenario?

This assumes your settings are not minimizing questions.

Hit, single
what happened to runner on second? home, safe, advanced by batter
what happened to runner on first? home, safe, E8 throwing error
what happened to batter? second, safe, E8 (same error) or on the throw

The initial advances to by runner to second (by batter) and third (on the throw) are irrelevant for stat purposes. If you want all actions credited to this at-bat, the above sequence will provide correct stats.
