Substitutes not recording properly.

I cant get the substitutes to record properly. When I touch the number, and then hit "sub", and then enter the new player, it records the old player as gaining possession.
Here's an example. Game starts. At 7:45 I stop the clock, and I want to take #1 out of the game. I touch #1, and it says that Player 1 gains possession. Then I touch sub, and then Player #3 off the bench. The message says that Player #3 replaces player #1. Then I touch done. Again it says that Player 1, who is no longer in the game, gains possession. The lineup does have Player 3 in the game. The scrolling log doesn't mention the substitution. I can't seem to make it substitute without it indicating that the player leaving the game has gained possession.
