Loose ball foul

Just wondering what's the best way to record a loose ball foul. Let's say a player missed a shot but there is no rebound but a foul instead. How would I best record that?

Tap the player, tap foul, and tap the type of foul if scoring in Game mode. If scoring coach mode, just tap the player and tap the Foul button.

I think what I had to do was hit "skip" when the rebound screen comes up after I hit Miss 2 when the player misses the shot, then I think I can register the foul from there. That's what I was missing, I was giving the rebound to the player who was fouled when in fact there wasn't a rebound....I didn't see the skip button at first.
