How to forfeit a team?

Post by garrett.gman » Wed Nov 14, 2012 9:16 pm

We had a game scheduled but one of the teams didn't have enough players to play the game so they forfeit the game. How do I record that in the app? One team gets the win and one team gets a loss but no stats will be recorded.

If you want that game to appear in iScore still, you can start the game, double tap the score for your team and give them 1 for example (some leagues have rules for how many points to assign in the case of forfeits), then tap the clock and set it to 0 and tap Start Period for the next period. Do this until the game is over. (Only takes 15-20 seconds to do the above.)

If I do that won't it screw up all the averages for all the players in the game? It would also screw up the averages for the team totals wouldn't it?

Just make sure you don't mark any of the players as Starting and it won't add any stats to your team. Yes, for team totals there will be an extra game so average per game would come down by that game for team totals. If you do not want it to count as a game for your team, we would suggest not even putting it into iScore.

I want it to count as a win for one team and a loss for the other but I don't want to screw up their averages. Is there a way to add a win or loss in the admin site without putting the game into iScore?

A win or a loss requires a game or there is no win/loss. And if you create a game, it counts in the game counts. It will not mess up any individual player averages. In fact, it could be argued it does not mess up the Team averages either.

If a team is 2-0, then they have 2 games. The fact that one is a forfeit does not change that. If they scored 50 points in the first game, then the average points per game for the team is 25. That is why some leagues have rules around forfeits like assigning a number of points for a forfeit.

If you want to not count the game, you could create a league for "Played Games" and a league for "Forfeited Games", and assign the games accordingly. When you want to see your statistics excluding forfeited games, run the reports with just Played Games league selected.
