I am a high school scorekeeper and am frequently asked by the coach about batter stats for the game during the game. Thank you for any insight you can provide. Monarchst...

Re: What do you think...

Regardless of her logic, 3rd baseman made the decision to try and put the runner from 2nd base out (FC) and not the batter, I would call score it a FC.

Re: scoring with RBI - Double Play

MLB Rule 10.04.a.3 gives this guidance regarding awarding an RBI "(3) when, before two are out, an error is made on a play on which a runner from
third base ordinarily would score."

Re: baseball hat

Major League Baseball Rule 7.05 refers to a cap. I suppose that answers the question. 7.05 Each runner including the batter-runner may, without liability to be put out, advance— (a) To home base, scoring a run, if a fair ball goes out of the playing field in flight and he touched all bases legally; ...

Re: NY Times: Who Scores By Hand Anymore

Very interesting article. I have been volunteering as the score keeper / statistician for a local high school since 2008. I use the paper score sheet and a notebook for notes during the games (mostly because the head coach prefers paper) and use iScore after the game. The versatility and admin page ...
