Re: Can an umpire (HS) reverse foul call?

Realistically, the only judgement calls that can be changed are safe/out and strike.

Safe/out - If an umpire thinks that a fielder pulled her foot he can rule him/her safe and then have a quick conference to find out if the fielder did.
Strike - Everyone knows this one...did the batter swing?

Re: Run scoring on dropped 3rd strike 3rd out

Let me clarify: When I said if the fielder only has to touch the bag for it to be a force out, what I meant was that if that's all a fielder has to do the force out rule applies, i.e. no runners can score when the third out is a force out. Same deal, if the runner leaves too soon and is put out on a...

Re: Batter passes runner

Technically, yes Petro is correct. However, the umpire goofed up. The rule to be applied should not have been PASSED RUNNER but MISSED BASE. The umpire shouldn't have said anything until an appeal was made on the runner that didn't touch home, which should've come swiftly since everyone knew that he...

Re: Legal use of iScore in Little League

First off, the coach in question is in a conflict of interest and I would personally ask for the Umpire In Chief to make the decision on a situation like that. That said both of the above posters are correct. Electronic scorekeeping is permitted as long as it's not used to communicate with someone i...

Re: FAQ - Errors

No. The pitcher is not trying to prevent a stolen base in this case. He is trying to pick the runner off a base he already legally occupies. He is charged with an error.

Re: Hidden ball question

If it's softball, then the only place the pitcher can go after taking ehr place on the plate is home. She can step off, but it's not a live ball.

Is this softball or baseball?

Re: Who gets the win

Actually Tex, I'm not sure that's accurate. I don't know exactly the rule, but I know a couple of leagues (Little league being one of them) credit an inning pitched, and not a fraction of it, if they throw a single pitch in an inning. I would check the ASA rules and see if pitchers are credited with...

Re: Lineup for continued game

The coach is correct. It's just like when does an inning start...when the third out is made in the previous inning. When the 9th batter got out, that makes the next batter the batter in the #1 position. Even when that team is on defense, the next legal batter is the batter in the #1 position, regard...
